Petrified Sand Dollar
A favorite that almost didn’t make it out for sale: this is a genuine, natural sand dollar, fossilized into stone! It’s about half an inch tall with a one-inch diameter, set in wings that measure three inches across.
As always, every winged piece is unique! Each one begins by matching a stone to one of my many wing doodles, inspired by insects, fantasy art, and natural shapes. Using my drawings as a template, I sculpt the wings in wax wire, and then build shape and texture with heat! No two are ever quite alike.
