Corundum: the mineral basis for both ruby and sapphire, only a step down from diamond on the hardness scale, and a Changeling favorite. This 1.25” piece is accordingly set in my favorite wing style, with a wingspan of 2.75.”
As always, every winged piece is unique! Each one begins by matching a stone to one of my many wing doodles, inspired by insects, fantasy art, and natural shapes. Using my drawings as a template, I sculpt the wings in wax wire, and then build shape and texture with heat! No two are ever quite alike.
