Long time, no journal update!
Maybe we’ll do better this year…time will tell. Anyway, here’s what’s on!
The end of 2022 saw me searching for, and switching to, a new metal casting facility for my production needs, and that has turned out to be a blessing in disguise: I’m now able to cast in a wider range of metals, and it’s also become much easier for me to mass-produce some items now and then. (This month’s pomegranate bead preorder was a pretty big deal for me, folks.) Exciting new things are ahead!
An operational note: because of some changes with USPS rates and policies, I’ve made some small adjustments to how I handle shipping. You can now choose whether or not to include additional insurance for your order, but this is not necessary for orders under $100, as the post office insures those for no charge. So, to be clear: for orders under $100, always choose the less expensive shipping option! For larger orders, you may still do this, but if your order does go astray, you will not receive a refund. For orders over $100, I strongly recommend the additional insurance - things don’t get lost in the mail very often, but it does happen.
On a related note, I’ve also decided to change my approach to packaging: going forward, I’ll be using flat-rate boxes as much as I can, and recycled envelopes when possible as well. I do love the look of my purple bubble mailers, but frankly it costs all of us more for me to use them, and they aren’t what anyone would call sustainable packaging - so once I’ve run out of them, I won’t be purchasing any more. Onward and upward.
Now, I’m just about to hop on a plane to visit my beloved Sonoran desert, for a shopping trip at the infamous gem show in Tuscon. Once I’m back in the chilly northeast, I’ll be holing myself up in my studio space to start building up stock for the spring and summer!
